Professor Roger Chartier will speak on Castiglione's Book of the Courtier, its early modern editions and translations, and the changing meanings of the key term sprezzatura. Professor Chartier will also show and examine early editions of Castiglione from the Kislak Center's rare book collections.

Roger Chartier is Annenberg Visiting Professor in History at the University of Pennsylvania and Professor at the College de France.

This event is organized by the Center for Italian Studies.
