Penn Libraries is building a new, user-focused library catalog

The Penn Libraries is revamping the Franklin catalog — and we’re looking for your input!

An essential resource for research at Penn, the Franklin catalog is a gateway to print and electronic books, journal and newspaper articles, videos, sound recordings, manuscripts, conference proceedings, and many other resources owned or subscribed to by the Penn Libraries.

The goal of this redesign process is to create a user-friendly, approachable system that can more easily adapt to our patrons’ changing needs. To better understand those needs, we’re gathering direct feedback from people who use Franklin to conduct research and access library materials.

Students, faculty, staff, and researchers across the university are invited to participate in usability research and provide input on the new system design by joining the design task force. Participants will be informed of opportunities to weigh in on the new system as the project progresses from now through the end of the spring semester. The new system will be available for all library users to preview during the spring semester, and it’s expected to launch in Fall 2024.
