Erin manages access to collections and spaces in the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center and coordinates access services, circulation, course reserves, and on-campus delivery policies and services throughout the Penn Libraries and with our affiliate libraries (Annenberg School for Communication, Biddle Law, and The Athenæum of Philadelphia). She supports relationships among library managers and staff to ensure smooth development, implementation, and coordination of library-wide access services initiatives and progress related to the strategic agenda, as well as leading staff in strategic initiatives and process improvement programming to enhance workflows, staff roles, equipment and software deployment, space planning, and user-centered services, and devising metrics and benchmarks to assess these activities. She also serves as the Department’s liaison to library technology initiatives related to information discovery, library management systems, patron transaction services, and knowledge management systems. Erin is interested in removing barriers whenever possible to create library services that are accessible, responsive, usable, and intuitive.

Before coming to Penn, Erin was Head of Library Operations at the State University of New York (SUNY) Brockport, where she managed Technical Services, Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, and Systems. Erin began her career at the University of Washington, working as a library assistant in technical services. She spent nearly a decade as a cataloger and technical services manager at a public library in the Portland, Oregon area before coming back to academic libraries.

Erin has earned an MLIS from the University of Washington and a BA in Sociology from the University of Delaware.
